Over the sound  (2023) begins on Ynys Enlli (“the island in the currents”), and expands outwards towards other locations and meanings. Through the movement of plants, conversation & the weather, the disparate fragments of the day-to-day are held together in one place, invoking a sense of wholeness and belonging. Life on an island is held here, or mirrored within a network of friendships, art works and imagined landscapes; as a moment extends out towards the impression of a flower, into a deeper exploration of continuity, reciprocity, and hearing as a form of company. The film is gently and generously narrated by the company of friends, and by the habitual tuning in to the morning radio station, broadcast from across the sea in Connemara.
